We live in a dormer bungalow in Kilmeaden, Co. Waterford and since we built the house in 1993 we have never been happy with the structure and layout of the upstairs section. We had also become conscious in recent years that the house was not insulated sufficiently and accordingly engaged a young architect in 2010 to suggest how we might go about refurbishing the top floor. As we progressed the project we realised that we were taking on a bigger job than we anticipated but we decided to seek tenders for the complete insulation of the top floor and reconstruction of a living area, two bedrooms and a bathroom.

We sought six tenders for the project and John McNicholas of JMC Construction was by far the most competitive. On talking to John and checking out other jobs he had done we decided to accept his tender. One of the conditions of the job stated that we would continue to live in the house while the work was going on and that we would not be without water or electricity at any stage overnight. This was guaranteed by John and he was true to his word. Despite the level of destruction required at the early stages, the work was carried out with a minimum of disruption and all areas affected were cleaned up each evening before the workers departed. We found John and his men to be most helpful and courteous and were very accommodating with any suggestions or changes we required.

The work commenced on time at the end of February by agreement and eight weeks later the job was completed to our great satisfaction. There were no hidden costs emerging at any time and all snags were dealt with in a most accommodating way. The quality of the workmanship was excellent and we have been most impressed by the end result. We would have no hesitation in recommending John and JMC Construction to anyone looking at a similar project.

JMC Construction carried out a full renovation of a derelict house for me on Main Street Tramore including a small extension to the rear. John had a good team working with him. The project was completed to a high standard and on budget. He provided expert advice and recommendations during the project and was flexible with any changes required. I couldn't have been happier with the service and finish. I found it a pleasure to deal with John and I can thoroughly recommend him and his team.
